Grant writing

Dear friends,

Jewish life in Belarus and the successor states of the former Soviet Union is undergoing significant growth and change and prospects for creating lasting and viable Jewish communities there are promising. Though Jewish learning options — and Jewish life in general — continue to grow in the communities, popular participation in these activities remains low with experts estimating that only 10–15% of all Jews in these countries are engaged in some form of Jewish community. More grant giving organization willing to fund are interested in receiving concept papers no more than 3 pages long from Jewish organizations who propose to expand and enhance Jewish communal life. Concept papers must include the following information:

• Contact person, mailing address, telephone, fax

• Basic organizational information, including a brief statement of the organization's activities and history

• A basic description of the project — program concept and mission. What need does it fill and where will it take place?

• Clear plans of how the project goals will be accomplished (included in this should be a clearly delineated time–line)

• Project budget — briefly describe the items included in your itemized project budget and include anticipated project expenditures and income

• Total organizational budget

• Other sources of funding for the project

• Total amount requested from grant giving organization

Submission of a letter of intent to MJC Resource Development Centre is the first stage of the grant application process. We wish to respect the time and resources of organizations and therefore only projects moving to the final application phase will be invited to submit full proposals.

Please note: Letters of intent should be submitted in both Russian and English.

Please note: Letters of intent including above information must be sent to R&D Centre five weeks before the actual deadline of the grant giving organization
