Jewish Welfare Fund «Hesed Rachamim»

General Information

“Hesed Rachamim” means good deeds and charity, solidarity and mutual aid, generosity and benevolence.

The beginning of Hesed Rachamim history dates back to 1989 when three women who started their charity activities by looking after elderly Jews living in a hostel for the lonely and invalids. In 1991 thanks to the JDC support the volunteer group has become a Welfare Fund “Hesed Rachamim” with its own homecare staff. At present Hesed Rachamim provides services to over 7000 clients.

Mission

Hesed Rachamiim holds charitable activities targeted at providing moral, welfare and spiritual support to Jewish population of Minsk. It revives and Jewish identity and makes each and every effort to keep it alive. The organization works to promote charity and volunteer traditions in the community.  

Activity Mainstreams

• Different kinds of social, welfare and psychological support to the most vulnerable members of Minsk Jewish Community — lonely people and disabled individuals, the elderly and the needy, etc.
• Attraction of funding for the community’s good from legal entities and the general public of the Republic of Belarus and other countries; distribution of humanitarian aid; and provision of welfare services in accordance with the set criteria
• Assistance in giving medical aid to the needy, orphanages and old people’s homes

Fund’s Basic Operation Principles:

The success of the ten year long Fund’s history became possible to the six main principles that the fund adheres to. The principles could be presented in the form of equation:

Hesed Rachamim Structure:

The managerial authority of the Fund is an executive committee – Presidium.
