The Jewish people all over the world are proud of their traditions and keep hard to follow them.
In period from 15 to 24 June, 2009 there was a traditional (ninth already) JDC summer family camp for the members of Belarusian Jewish Community. The camp was worked out and organized by Youth Student Club “Hillel”.
This year a health resort in Podyelniki welcomed an integrated summer family camp. Among all participants all over Belarus children with special needs accompanied by their parents were invited. The children felt quite comfortable there, and participated in every activity they could, thanks to professional case worker of Jewish Family Outreach Service Ms. Irina Sagalovich and thanks to the single basic principle of the family camps of interaction between children and adults.
During these days the camp participants were plunged into TV forum atmosphere, they “switched” TV channels and were given a chance of producing programs and of discussing their qualities.
Every day of the summer camp was dedicated to one of TV channels, i.e. «National Geographic» presented its spectators Israel, “Culture” channel performed on Jewish culture, «Eurosport» was dedicated to leisure and sport time, «History» told the Jewish history. The diversities of the modern Jewish world were uncovered by 1st national channel on Sunday; moreover, on this very day “Hevruta” 51; Jewish Knowledge Day was also held so to emphasize the topic. “Hevruta”'s core principles are a possibility to choose what learning section out of 8 to attend and a possibility to take the floor as a lecturer not only as a listener. The camp participants “spent” Sunday afternoon walking down famous Israeli Ben Yeguda Street with its amusements, competitions at sounds of Jewish music, souvenir shops, food and its other highlights.
The last camping day was a special one as its participants were managing YTV — Your Own TV. Needless to say it was dedicated to the Belarusian Jewish Community, its past, present and future, so everyone felt like the Jewish future is in their hands.
Except the TV issue, there were also organized intellectual competitions, Oscar awarding and travelling into various Israeli cities, closer acquaintance with Jewish culture, holidays, and Jewish authors and their books, Shabbat and Avdallah. Madrihim also presented their workshops and there was a play ground for the youngest camp participants.
The camp was of high success and its more than 90 participants had undoubtedly great time; on their last day in the camp they applauded good–buy and cordial thanks to those who spent sleepless nights in order the participants had fun there, to those who did everything possible so that every family felt its specialness and its membership in the big Jewish Belarusian Family.

Alevtina Babyna became Hesed client in 1998 when the recrudescence of polyarthritis in lower limbs put her on crutches. The pain was insufferable, so was the feeling of helplessness and irrelevance against her long previous life full of physical endurance.

At 73, he still is what his father had been all his life: dedicated communist and convinced internationalist. Named after Friedrich Engels, Karl Marx’s pal and accomplice in their abortive attempts to overthrow the reign of misappropriated surplus value, he still mourns the USSR and blames those who emigrate for a better living in Israel, in the USA or, even worse, in Germany.
